Mending Split Ends

Mending Split Ends
Nothing makes hair look more frazzled and dull than frayed ends. But short of a trim, nothing seems to permanently fix them. That's why we welcomed news of products that claim to repair split ends. To see if they would live up to their end-mending billing, the Good Housekeeping Research Institute tested six — both on volunteers' hair and on swatches with split ends. Afterward, the results were examined under a microscope. The verdict: None was able to fuse the frays back together. Nevertheless, after using Citré Shine Shine Miracle Split End Mender ($4, drugstores), testers noted that their hair seemed smoother and that it appeared to have fewer split ends. One volunteer's simple take: "My hair looked healthier."
