Symptoms of Split Ends

Symptoms - Dry, splitting hair ends, the hair may be very coarse and rough.

Split ends are characterized by the hair split into two or three strands that can be as long as 2 to 3 centimeters in length to all the hair from end to root.

Run your fingers through your hair and check the last inch. If you can see any of the strands literally splitting off, you have split ends. The more you have, the more damaged your hair is.

How To Reduce Split Ends Hair

If you already have split ends, the best thing to do is get a trim. use a leave in conditioner at least 3 times a week. try not to blow dry or straighten your hair everyday. great shampoo and conditioner is pantene pro-v with amino proteins that is really good for your hair. dont ever brush your hair when It is wet just comb It. once in a while take a 1/2 cup of mayo and massage It in your dry hair and put a plastic bag over and wait 15-30 min then take a shower and shampoo and condition like usual. It makes your hair way soft! Try not to wear your hair in a pony tail everyday and stay away from too much gel and hairspray. I used to be one of those people whho would blow dry and straghten my hair almost every single day for probably a year. but here shortly i have not been doing any of that. I just get out of the shower, plop in some mousse and a few squirts of hairspray and im out the door! It takes soo much less time and my hair feels a lot softer now. I brush it before I go to bed everynight for about 3-5 minutes straight. since I am trying to make my hair grow, I get It trimmed about every 2-3 months. but every 6 weeks is great. air drying your hair also locks in the moisture b/c Its not lost when you blow dry It.

 1. Protective styles are styles that hide or safeguard the final couple of inches of the hair. Throughout extreme weather like harsh cold or scorching warmth, it is good and also hardwearing. Hair protected. Putting on hair in buns, braids or two strand twists could keep away. Keeping them hidden having a hat or scarf created using gentle material for example satin or silk will even safeguard them from harsh elements.

2. No Brushes: Brushes can tug, pull and rip your hair, leading to excessive splitting. If you’re able to avoid brushes do, otherwise use 100% boar bristle brushes, or individuals made of top quality material, particularly for detangling your hair. It is also not recommended to mix excessive brushing with extreme warmth of the hair dryer.

3. Use Wide-Tooth Hair combs: Utilizing a wide-tooth comb can make detangling your hair simpler, thus reducing on tugging and yanking from the hair. You should also make certain the comb is of top quality material. Hair combs which have a seam lower each tooth, may cause snagging, check the seams of the comb before utilizing it, it ought to be seamless.

4. Strengthening your hair: Protein may be the primary aspect of strengthening your hair replenishes it weekly (or almost every other week). Utilizing a good protein based deep conditioner can help keep your hair strong. More powerful hair includes a harder time splitting and breaking.

ways To Prevent Slit Ends Hair

This is one of those questions I get asked with startling regularity—like three times a day. And I think there's a good reason: Unless you're a haircare zealot—by which I mean you see your stylist without fail every six weeks for a trim, you never overshampoo or overstyle with heated tools, and you wouldn't go near a chemical treatment—some breakage and split ends are inevitable. But a few suggestions from master stylist Barry Reitman at the Juan Juan Center in Beverly Hills can help:
Use a moisturizing shampoo (like Nexxus Dualiste Color Protection + Intense Hydration Shampoo, $12) and rinse-out conditioner (such as Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Conditioner, $4), concentrating the product on your split ends.
Rinse with cool water to seal the hair's outer layer.
Detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
Pour a bit of shine serum (try Garnier Fructis Style Brilliantine Shine Glistening Drops, $4.50) into your palm and glide it over split ends.Be sure to dry your hair thoroughly; split ends look worse when they're frizzy.
To camouflage the ends, use a light heat protectant (like Redken Spray Starch 15 versatile ironing spray, $13) when hair is completely dry. Then use a ceramic or Teflon flatiron to straighten the bottom inch of your hair.

I have tons of split ends?

To fix split ends:
-Go get your hair cut about 1 inch.I know you don't want to hear that but thats the only way to rid of them.Or else they will keep split up your hair.
-Conditioning treatment all over your hair every time you wash it.Get an all natural one.
-Wash it every other or every three days.Inbetween days use dry shampoo
-Do no heat straightening for about 2 months so you give your hair a break and time to repair
-Get a new shampoo and conditioner infused with keratin. If its not over 40 bucks its not professional and it won't work good at all
-Use split end hair products such as leave in conditioner, spray, and serum
-If you have to straighten it use a VERY HIGH QUALITY heat protectant.Buy them from stores that focus on pro hair products.Ulta is great.Never from a convenient store or pharmacy.
-Use hot oil treatments every other week.
For your skin:
I personally wash my face with a scrub at night to get all the dirt off it.Pick one that is for your skin type.Oily or dry or a mix.
-Do some research.Search Bubxbeauty on youtube. She is soooo amazing with skin
-Use toner,moisturiser
-Get a facial done once a month
-STOP WEARING MAKE-UP,It makes your acne worse and it seeps into your pores clogging them and barely any soaps can get it out.Causing your acne:
-Im 12 and in 7th grade and I had the same issues as you!
-Remember you are beautiful<3

Does braiding hair after cutting split ends make it grow?

yes it does because i got my hair cut and i had my mom braide my hair and its to my but now so it totally helps but you can only have it down once in a while so yeah thats the only down side.

Split ends/longer hair?

Always use a heat Protectant before straigthen your hair trim your hair each 2 month and it's good to do a mayonnaise hair treatment every week don't use alot of products in your hair and try not to dye your hair alot. Also some olive oil can help, you can include it in the mayonnaise treatment.

Help me with my hair, and split ends:'(?

For split ends you need to get then trimmed off, but you can avoid them by using a deep conditioner on your hair. Pantene, Loreal, and Herbal Essences all make really good deep conditioners you can get at any drug store, I suggest you check it out. Also, don't straighten/curl/blow dry your hair every day, to keep the ends healthier as well

Split Ends Are Still Coming Back.?

Here are some hair hints:
Everyone likes something a little different for their hair. Whether it's enhancing your hair's natural tendencies, or taking it to the opposite end of the spectrum, the right combination of tools and techniques can help you achieve the healthiest, most natural look.

•Curl Up
When you are encouraging your natural curl, it's important to try to enhance your curl's natural shape and direction. This will give you smoother, more defined curls with less frizz. Try Oribe's Curl Definition Creme, a light-hold cream that moisturizes and defines curls, leaving them bouncy and beautiful.

•Straighten Out
Getting your hair into a smooth, sleek state can be challenging for some hair types. It's always important to use a thermal protectant when blowdrying or flatironing. Try Kerastase's Thermique Products, which infuse moisture into the hair as heat is applied. To finish and lock in that smooth style, top off with Oribe's Impermeable Anti-Humidity spray. This finishing product will combat the humidity and elements in the air to preserve your look!

•Do it UP
Whether it's for a special event or just a girl's night on the town, styling your hair into an updo is always a fun way to spice up your hair! Oribe's styling line has great products for fashion styling. Rough Luxury Wax and the Original Pomade are great options for those with short styles. For a little more glam, try Oribe's 24K Gold Pomade, the Midas Finishing Touch for any coif! Top it off with the Superfine Hairspray from Oribe, which offers medium hold and a delicious smell!

Why does my hair keep getting split ends?

I have long hair and I cut the split ends off by myself inbetween my 2-3 month hair cuts. I take a pair of sharp shears and go through my hair and find the split ends and cut them off about an inch above the damage. So why do the keep coming back? I have noticed on my bangs the most. I cut almost all of split ends off and now they are back and I just cut them like less than a mouth ago. I try my best to take care of my hair but the split ends will not stop coming!

What is the best product for split ends and breakage?

You won't find anything to repair your hair and the only way to get rid of them is to get them trimmed off. Until then, deep condition your hair once maybe twice a week, depending on the damage to prevent the rest of the length of hair from splitting. Use heat protection spray to minimise the damage caused by heat styling too and try not to overdye it if you dye it normally.
Tigi do a great finishing product called ego boost which deals with fly aways and temporarily seals the splits so they don't look so obvious but the prevention is always better than a cure, deep condition once a week after you get the dead ends chopped off and damage shouldn't be so bad in the future.

How to cure split ends on hair? Why it occurs?

Cut them off. No cure, just go get a trim. They happen because you've damaged your hair some way, either by chemical processing, or not conditioning it, or styling tools that use heat i.e. Blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons.. Hope this helps. If you don't want to cut it, you could try using a smoothing serum, do some cholesterol treatments..

Best cure for split ends?

For me, keeping my hair healthy means biolage shampoo and conditioner and a leave in treatment, like infusium or frizz ease. it doesn't "repair" split ends, but it does help maintain the appearance of them. sounds like you're cutting your hair enough....

How do you get split ends?

Hair, technically speaking, is dead matter. We can only cosmetically maintain and enhance it. Therefore, anything that stresses or dries the strands can cause the stands to split at the end. Any product that promises nourishment from the inside out is full of it. As hair dries or becomes overstressed, the weakest part -- the -- ends, split as a result.

Causes Split Ends Hair

The sole cause for the development of split ends is extremely damaged hair. Damaged hair causing split ends generally occur due to the following four reasons:

    Thermal
Thermal damage is caused my giving various heat treatments to the hair. In day to day life, we very often make use of curl irons, straightening irons, hair dryers and also undergo lot of high temperature treatments, which damages the hair. The ultimate result of all this is the development of split ends. Also exposure to direct sunlight for long durations is said to build up split ends.

    Chemical
Making use of chemical treatments is another common thing these days. In order to try different styles and looks, we go for chemical therapies such as hair perms, permanent straightening, trying variety of shampoos and hair coloring (known for removing the protection layer from the hair). All of these may give you a good look initially, but internally it damages your hair to the maximum extent, thus giving rise to split ends.

    Mechanical

This includes causing mechanical stress to the hair such as pulling of the hair by combing them roughly in a forceful manner or again and again combing the hair. Drying the hair (after a hair wash) with a towel in a harsh manner is also one of the causes.

    Unhealthy diet
They say, “We are what we eat”.  Whatever we eat affects every part of our body. Thus, an unhealthy diet will also result in dull and damaged hair. Once the moisture fades away from the hair, split ends will build up. So, to avoid split ends, it is necessary to have healthy eating habits.

Nothing makes hair look more frazzled and dull than frayed ends. But short of a trim, nothing seems to permanently fix them. That's why we welcomed news of products that claim to repair split ends. To see if they would live up to their end-mending billing, the Good Housekeeping Research Institute tested six — both on volunteers' hair and on swatches with split ends. Afterward, the results were examined under a microscope. The verdict: None was able to fuse the frays back together. Nevertheless, after using Citré Shine Shine Miracle Split End Mender ($4, drugstores), testers noted that their hair seemed smoother and that it appeared to have fewer split ends. Split Ends Hair Introduction

The end of a hair that has split into strands.

Split ends, also known as Trichoptilosis in medical terms is a hair problem wherein the ends of the hair follicle are split into 2 or 3 or more strands (depending on the damage caused to them). Split ends further weaken the hair and make them appear unattractive and dull.

Split ends are extremely frustrating, specifically for individuals looking to get their head of hair on course! Are tricky because despite you clip them, new, vulnerable finishes are actually uncovered which are determined to split. Here are a couple of things you can do to be able to minimize split ends.

Sunday 8 July 2012

Egg and Mayonnaise Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Eggs and mayonnaise have properties that will soften and smooth frizzy hair. The protein content in these two ingredients can make your hair shiny and silky. Mix eggs and mayonnaise together, apply it to your hair, and cover with a plastic cap. Leave this on for 30 to 45 minutes, then wash it out.

Coconut Milk Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Coconut milk is a nourishing conditioner that softens frizzy hair. It can be used alone or mixed with oil, a raw egg or avocado for extra conditioning. Apply the mixture to your hair, and cover your hair with a plastic cap. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes, then shampoo out.

Honey Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Honey has moisturizing and conditioning properties. It contains many nutrients and has a smoothing effect on frizzy hair. Honey can be used alone or combined with other ingredients, and there are several ways to use it as a conditioner for frizzy hair. Mix 1/2 cup honey and 1/4 cup olive oil together. Apply it to your hair and cover with a plastic cap. Leave this mixture on for 20 to 30 minutes, then shampoo it out.

Oil Treatments Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Applying an oil treatment is an effective way to tame frizzy hair. At least twice a week, spread a very small amount of coconut, almond or olive oil evenly throughout your hair. Every two weeks, before shampooing, apply a small amount of castor oil to your hair and cover your head with a warm, moist towel so that the oil can penetrate and nourish your scalp. These oils contain nutrients and essential fatty acids that will strengthen and soften your hair.

Flaxseed Gel Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

To make flaxeed gel that will tame and soften frizzy hair, boil water in a small saucepan and add two cups of whole flaxseeds. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until the liquid gels, stirring constantly. Strain the liquid through cheesecloth or a fine strainer into a small bottle. Add a few drops of an essential oil, and you'll have homemade hair gel to beat the frizzies. You can add a little aloe vera gel, which will act as a moisturizer, to the flaxseed gel.

Gentle Care Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Damaged hair is most susceptible to frizz, so invest in regular trims to remove split ends. Avoid heat styling as much as possible. When you do, apply a heat protestant spray. Flat irons, which do an excellent job of fighting frizz, get particularly hot, so it is important to pay attention when using them. Do not allow the iron to stay in one spot for too long. Don't use one every day.

Sun Protection

Ultraviolet rays dry out hair and lead to damage, according to the Stylist website. Protect your hair from sun damage, which leads to frizz, by using styling products that contain UV-blocking ingredients, as well as physically blocking your hair from the sun by wearing a hat or scarf when you will be outside for an extended period.

Deep-Conditioning Treatments Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Deep conditioning treatments can help seal the cuticle as well as add moisture that helps protect hair from damage. The Glamour website recommends one deep conditioning treatment each week. Allow the conditioner to remain on your hair for at least 10 minutes.

Products Containing Silicone Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Silicone smooths the hair's cuticle, creating a sleek look and helping seal the cuticle to prevent moisture from entering. Silicone is available in shampoos, conditioners, anti-frizz serums and finishing sprays. The Glamour website recommends using products that advertise benefits, such as smoothing or shine, for hair that tends to develop frizz. Use shampoo and conditioners containing silicone just as you would any other shampoo or conditioner. Use a light hand if you choose styling products, such as serums or gels, that contain silicone, as too much silicone can create an oily look that weighs hair down.

Careful Drying Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Minimize frizz by treating your hair carefully when you step out of the shower. Rather than rubbing your hair vigorously with a towel or wrapping your hair in a towel to speed the drying process, squeeze your hair gently, using a towel or clean T-shirt to absorb excess moisture. Allow your hair to air-dry if possible. If you must use a blow dryer, spray your hair with a heat protectant spray before you begin. Do not over-dry.

Shampoo Less Frequently Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

Shampooing hair strips it of its natural oils and makes hair look frizzy and puffy. To help tame your wild hair, shampoo your hair two or three times a week at the most. This way, your hair will absorb the oils that are released from the scalp. If your roots become oily, apply a small amount of baby powder to the roots and carefully rub it into your scalp to distribute it. Apply powder to the roots as necessary throughout the day to control oil.

Condition Hair Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

After shampooing, use a conditioner that contains silicone, recommends Jill Schuck Taylor in an article in "Glamour" magazine. After shampooing, rinse your hair completely and apply conditioner. Leave the conditioner in for at least 5 minutes, and then rinse again. After getting out of the shower, don't rub your hair. Instead, carefully blot it with a towel to remove excess water, says Taylor. Touch your hair as little as possible while it is wet.

Trim the Ends Frizzy Hair Home Remedy

When hair is damaged and has split ends, curly hair can look even more frayed, and hair may become tangled more easily. For healthy, frizz-free hair, trim your hair every six to eight weeks, recommends an article in "Marie Claire." Use a pair of hair shears or sharp scissors to carefully trim your hair while it is wet. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb, then trim about 1/4 inch off of the ends. Trimming hair regularly will prevent split ends from splitting all the way up the hair shaft, creating a frizzy mess.

Lip Balm and Moisturize Frizzy Hair to Home Remedy

Think of the amount of times that you apply lip balm or hand moisturizer each day. Each time you do so, you're missing out on an easy and quick opportunity to tame frizzy hair. When you slick on a non-flavored, petroleum-based lip balm, rub a little on your fingertips and run them through your hair to add weight and smooth down frizz, much in the way a pomade would. When you apply moisturizer to your hands, there's always a little excess. Massage the cream into your hands, and then run your hands over your hair to deposit the rest for sleeker locks.

Home Conditioner Frizzy Hair to Home Remedy

A weekly deep conditioning treatment can infuse your hair with hydration so it is less likely to feel dry and susceptible to frizzing. You don't need an expensive hot oil treatment, but rather a few items from your fridge known for moisturizing properties. Combine the flesh of one avocado, one egg and 2 tbsp. olive oil and mix into a paste. Apply the conditioner to dry hair, and wrap in plastic wrap. If possible, sit somewhere warm and humid so the hair cuticles open and the conditioner can become infused in the hair. Rinse out after 30 minutes.

Dryer Sheet Frizzy Hair to Home Remedy

If you are on the go and notice that your hair has already begun to frizz, you might not have time to dash back upstairs to apply an anti-frizz serum. Grab a dryer sheet out of your laundry room for the same effect in less time, hairstylist Ted Gibson tells "Elle" magazine . The fabric softener on the laundry sheet clings to the hair shaft and weighs it down to reduce the amount of frizz and flyaways you experience.Slip a few dryer sheets into your work bag for anti-frizz treatment all day.

Cold Water frizzy hair to home remedy

When you shower in very hot water the pores of your hair open to receive moisture. Unfortunately, after you step out of the shower, hair absorbs too much moisture and the pores stay open, causing frizzing. Rinsing your hair in cool water closes the hair shaft and makes it less susceptible to frizz, says HairBoutique.com. This method is also applied to styling; once you've finished blowing your hair dry with heat, press down the cool air button and give your hair a final blast to seal in smoothness and lock out excess moisture.

5 steps to frizzy hair home remedy

Frizz robs your hair of its natural shine and makes it look unkempt and unhealthy. Weather, genetics, dehydration, using too many styling products and over-brushing can all leave your hair with a case of the frizzies. To restore your hair to health, take a break from blow drying and minimize the number of styling products you use on it. For fast results, try a homemade hair conditioner that will penetrate your hair to plump it up and coat the outer shaft of the hair to smooth it flat.

Step 1
Add the coconut milk to the mashed avocado in a bowl, stirring constantly so that the milk and avocado are completely combined. Continue adding milk until the mixture resembles a thick paste.

Step 2

Measure out 1/2 cup of the coconut-milk and avocado mixture. Set the remaining mixture aside: Use it as hair conditioner after shampooing or reserve it for a future batch of frizz remedy.

Step 3
Add honey and almond oil to the 1/2 cup of avocado-coconut milk mixture. Mix until the ingredients are completely combined.

Step 4
Use your fingers to massage the mixture thoroughly into damp hair, making sure to cover all your hair. Let the mixture sit on your hair for about 20 minutes.

Step 5
Rinse the conditioning treatment out of your hair completely with cool water. Repeat once a week or as needed to calm frizz and promote shine.

Regardless of the cause of your hair's frizz, it can be reduced by following a few simple steps. According to "Hair and Hair Care," you should see immediate improvement in your frizz and significant improvement within four weeks if you consistently care for your frizzy hair.

Step 1
Apply a deep conditioner, which can be purchased at a salon or beauty supply store, to your hair if you perm or color it. According to "Hair Care: An Illustrated Dermatologic Handbook," perming and coloring damages hair, often leading to frizz. Treating the hair with a deep conditioner improves the hair's health, leading to less frizz.

step 2
Rinse the deep conditioner out of your hair with cool water. According to "The Science of Hair Care," rinsing your hair with cool water constricts the hair's cuticle, making the hair sleeker and giving the appearance of less frizzy hair.

Step 3
Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb. According to "Hair and Hair Care," brushing your hair can lead to frizzy hair. Simply using a wide-toothed comb can reduce frizz.

Step 4
Trim off your split ends every six weeks. According to "Hair Care: An Illustrated Dermatologic Handbook," hair with unhealthy ends is often frizzy. Trimming off your split ends will leave you with only healthy hair, which will reduce your frizz.

Frizzy Hair Prevention

Even normally tame tresses can take on a life of their own when humidity levels rise. "Moisture penetrates the outer layer of hair, making it fluffy and unruly," says Henri Borday, a stylist at Mizu salon in New York City. Antifrizz products seal the cuticle by coating strands or fill it in with a protein, such as keratin. For a temporary fix, try Suave Professionals Weather Protection 365 Anti-Frizz Flyaway Cream Gel ($3; drugstores); for the lowdown on new, longer-lasting treatments.

Always concentrate on the ends and leave the mask on for approximately 10-15 minutes, before rinsing it thoroughly.Go for a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a month. It repairs the hair and also keeps them hydrated.Do not blow dry your hair more than once or twice a week. Even while using a blow dryer, never run it up and down the hair. If possible, use an ionic blow-dryer.Stick to silicone-based products for styling your hair, but do not use them in excess.Use the de-frizz (anti-frizz) creams, serums and gels available in the market, concentrating only in the problem areas.
Never ever use a brush for combing your hair. Rather, stick to a wide-toothed comb. The former can not only cause more frizz, but also result in split-ends.Get your hair trimmed on a regular basis. It can not only control frizz, but also prevent split ends.
As much as possible, let your hair dry naturally. At the same time, don’t run your hair with a towel. While buying hair care products, look for the ones with moisturizing agents, vitamin E, Aloe Vera, honey, chamomile, olive oil, panthenol and glycerin. Before styling your hair, make sure to apply de-frizz products. It will contribute to your hairstyle.Do not keep touching your hair throughout the day and try to keep your hands away from the hair as much as possible.

Help my hair is so frizzy

it goes wavy and very frizzy after ive washed it and ive tried nearly everything ive spent loads on products can anyone help me?
I have probably the same kinda hair. i put some oils in it when its wet, blow dry, then iron. if i dont iorn it i have a fro, and it doesnt look to cute on a 17 year old white girl. for the oils, nothing to heavy, i dont think it really matters what brand. i use gardne sleek n shine(sp) but i just put it in so my hair doesnt fry off because its damaged from dying and straightening. use a heat protectant and use plenty of hair masks to keep the damage down. our hair type totally sucks..

Can you advise me how to treat my frizzy curly hair?

If you have the cash go to your salon and get a deep conditioning treatment done once a month, believe me it works. try not to do the deep conditioning treatments at home, if you screw up then your hair will be in a worse state, that happened to me once and I’ve learned from my mistake. When you have a shower use a good moisturizing shampoo (Bonacure Moisture Kick Shampoo) and conditioner (try two conditioners alternatively. I use panteen and Garnier Fructise conditioner in the orange bottle). When your hair is towel dried (squeeze the water off your hair but do it gently with a towel, wrapping it around your hair in a round movement) apply leave in conditioner on the hair, concentrating on the ends. Mix a little bit of hair gel and serum together and run through your hair, tie your hair up in a bun or wrap an old T-shirt around it and go about your work for sometime. After you feel your hair is 95% dried you can let your hair down and run some hair wax on it (only if it's still frizzy) other wise you can just go about your business.P.s- when your conditioning your hair apply it run a wide tooth comb through it to spread the conditioner and leave it on for 10 minutes. Remember to use a really good professional conditioner; they really do make a difference and don’t wash your hair every day, wash it twice a week and that’s enough.P.s- Bonacure Moisture Kick has a really good Moisture Treatment for your hair, and you can spray on the osis curl activator if you want the really curly look.

How do I manage my curly, frizzy, hair?

Well I had the same problem.....mmmm u should take a bath and then pull your hair like in a pony tail or soething and then during the day keep changing the style u know what I mean? ......so when it dries it will stay like curly and cute.. do that,,,u could also try cutting it in layers so it won't too frizzy........and try to use products that conditioner...and try not to brush your hair cuz ir makes it sooooo frizzy besides that ruin the antural curls................and well I think taht it...and straightening u hair it's kinda bad but u can use a heat protector that way your hair won't get damaged and get a GOOD strightener even tough it's a little bit expensive it's better cuz that way you'll take good care of your hair....

How Do I Get Rid of Dandruff and Flakiness Naturally?

Coconut oil. Of all the things I’ve suggested to friends and family, coconut oil has worked nearly 99% of the time. If you have really stubborn dandruff, try combining 2 Tbsp coconut oil and 4-5 drops tea tree or neem
The key is to leave the coconut oil or mixture on your scalp for as many hours as you can. Leave it on overnight, if possible.
However, if you’re no ‘poo and have the problem of flakiness, I’d do a coconut oil treatment and wash with a non-detergent (sulfate-free) shampoo as a special treatment, then rinse with a solution of 3 cups water and 2 tsp lemon juice. From then on out, make sure you are COMPLETELY rinsing all of the baking soda from your scalp. Remember, baking soda changes the pH of your scalp/hair, which can lead to irritation if you don’t get it all rinsed out.
Cinnamonn, in the comments, also pointed out that if you have persistent dandruff and areas of pink, scaly scalp, you might actually have psoriasis (not an uncommon issue).

How can I tame my frizzy hair?

You love your wavy hair, but the frizzy, fly-aways you get when you brush those curls? Not so much. Fortunately, there are ways to tame the frizz. You just have to give it a little effort.  Here are some quick tips to keep your hair frizz-free.
Don't brush dry hair.
Brushing not only disrupts your hair's cuticle, it can also stretch hair, leading to breakage. Instead, Connie Eeyerlin, a stylist at Dionysius Salon in Eugene, Oregon, suggests you towel drying hair after a shower. Then gently brush, comb or finger-comb it while wet, adding just a touch of your preferred conditioner or anti-frizz product.
Don't over-process your hair.
Relaxers and straighteners can make hair brittle and lead to breakage, says Carolyn Jacob, MD, a Chicago dermatologist. Instead, look for a protein-infused conditioner to help you manage frizz, and make it shine, too. You might also try frizz pomades or oils, such as Moroccan oil, to help "calm down the outer layer of the hair shaft" and make it slicker, she says.
 Stop 'cooking' your curls.
"Anything that would blister your skin doesn’t feel so great on your hair either," writes Teri LaFlesh, author of Curly Like Me. To minimize frizz, LaFlesh suggests avoiding flat irons, curling irons, and limiting heat sources to a blow dryer with a diffuser.
Put moisture back in your mane.
Frizzy hair tends to be drier, so you need to put moisture into it. Use a conditioner, a natural oil like Moroccan oil, or a frizz cream, says Dennis Baker, stylist and owner of Baker Lanier Salon and Day Spa in Atlanta. He says natural oils are better than synthetic because they are absorbed into the hair, while synthetic silicon moisturizers lay on top of the hair, making it appear dirty.
Go alcohol-free.
Because alcohol can dry hair out, setting you up for frizz, look for alcohol-free products. That may mean switching to salon-quality shampoos, conditioners, and hairsprays, says stylist Eeyerlin. "Salon-quality products don't have to last as long on the shelf, so they don't contain as many harsh ingredients -- like alcohol -- as supermarket and drug store products do."

I hate my hair, frizz bomb!!?

Crazy, frizzy Hair, HELP?

If you are SUPER dedicated to taming your hair, go to the salon and ask them what would they recommend. They're indeed professionals. If not, I would buy a leave-in conditioner. Research online and search 'best leave-in conditioner' or something like that.If NONE of that works out, you'll have to learn to love you hair. You're probably just like wtf but some people that have frizzy hair, use moose (or w/e how you spell it) and it indeed looks really nice. Or have your hair up in a high bun, I saw girls have that when they had frizzy hair and it looks really nice. Learn to love you hair, embrace it. God made you this way, you're unique and beautiful and don't you forget it!

Miss Jessies Curly Pudding

Miss Jessies Curly Pudding
Touted as the "best curl cremes period", Miss Jessie's takes frizzy hair and turns it into perfect coiled waves and curls. My friends with naturally wavy (read: frizzy) hair swear by this creme. Put a small amount in your palm and work it through hair before air-drying or blow-drying with a diffuser on the lowest heat and speed setting possible. Infused with macadamia and sweet almond oil for a fragrant scent.

Deva Curls Diffuser for the Hair Dryer

Deva Curls Diffuser for the Hair Dryer
When you have curly hair, you may find the hair dryer can be your enemy. Too much heat and you get frizz. But now there's an entire industry around maintaining healthy curls and the industry is lead by Deva Curl. This diffuser can be put on the end of hair dryers (I prefer ionic dryers because the drying time is cut in half) and coaxes the perfect ringlets out of hair.

Deva Curl No-Poo and Lo-Poo

 Deva Curl No-Poo and Lo-Poo
My curly-haired friends swear by Deva Curl's No Poo and Lo Poo shampoos. These shampoos contain no sulfates, so they won't lather. But this also means there's no bad ingredients to dry out your curls even further. Try the Lo Poo if you have curly hair that's not too dehydrated. The No Poo has no lathering capabilities at all, but will cleanse the hair and scalp while not stripping it of natural oils.

Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm

Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm
For all the controversy over the five-fingered leaf, there’s one area where there is no debate over hemp – and that is the benefits it offers hair. Millimeter for millimeter, hemp is a plant with one of the highest protein contents in the world. Plus with beneficial minerals that penetrate, strengthen and add shine to hair, this magic little ingredient could be the cure-all frizzy hair product you’ve been searching for.On top of being packed with the proteins needed to fill the “holes” in damaged hair and restore structural integrity, hemp seed oil is rich in lipids and other essential fatty acids. Click on the following links to find them on sale!
is our favorite from their line. It’s creamy, it’s light, and we love it – especially for blowouts! Just apply a small amount of this lotion to your frizzy or curly towel-dried hair and frizz is contained. Brush it in from roots to tips with a paddle brush while blow drying for bouncy, full-bodied straight hair! It’s perfect for managing frizz on a casual day out.

Brazilian Blowout Acai Anti-Frizz Shampoo

Anti-Frizz Shampoo
Girls with frizzy hair or naturally dry, curly hair already know that maintaining their hair involves doing things that might be outside the norm. For example, while girls with straight hair can go to town on vigorously towel drying or blow drying their hair, girls with hair that is prone to frizz know that the friction and heat spell disaster. Patting your hair dry with a towel — now that’s the ticket!Basically, your hair requires special care across the board. That’s why mass market drug store brands like Garnier, Pantene, and Herbal Essences aren’t good for you: they were developed with detergents and chemical byproducts in bulk. Though they offer basic cleaning for most people, they’re too harsh for you!Take heart; pampering your hair is FUN. And stumbling upon the perfect hair find for your frizzy hair is its own reward. Plenty of companies are developing marvelous frizzy hair products with you in mind. Why not grab some specially formulated, tried-and-true frizz-fighters?

Moroccanoil Hair Treatment for Frizzy Hair

Moroccanoil Hair

Moroccan Oil has been getting a lot, a lot of hype at trade shows, press etc. The celebs cannot stop praising it. For fine and light colored hair types, use Moroccan Oil Treatment Light. Other very frizzy hair type, try the regular Oil Treatment. To further tame your frizzy hair, use Hydrating Styling Cream to eliminate frizz, adds definition and brilliant shine. In a recent magazine interview, sexy singer Fergie reveals her hair treatment secret: her keeps her hair soaped into Moroccan Oil every night to treat her over styled, over color treated hair.

Frizzy Hair Symptoms

The first sign was brain fog and forgetfulness, I was told for 3 years it was depression ,then my leg hairs and ends of my eyebrows stopped growing. The worst sign was the exhaustion. I spent my life asleep. I felt constantly unwell and down . I felt like life wasn't worth living. The doctor wouldn't listen he thought it might be menopause signs. He wouldn't have it that it could be my thyroid.

Damaged hair is a common concern. Most people strive for and take pride in having beautiful, healthy hair. The best way to treat damaged hair is to first recognize its symptoms.

Supplements, hair dyes, perming, straightening, medications, and too much of everything. Add to that the 7,000 + toxics found in your home, plus pollution found outdoors.
Eat healthier foods. Avoid pills, supplements, bottled drinks to make your hair grow, etc. . . . just another propaganda that will make you gain weight or get sick elsewhere. FDA don't even approve of them, until someone gets very very sick, because they don't have manpower to investigate them all.The majority of hair problems here, are from women under 30, with damaged hair, hair stopped growing, etc.... trying to be a follower of trend.
Curly/wavy hair are the worst, because they are easily get frizzy and it's already dried to begin with and very very hard to manage. Not like straight hair!Even the cheapest shampoo does the trick, if your hair is healthy. I think you already know the solution to your dry and damaged hair. The solution to hair damaged is cut them, and let new growth begins. For frizzy hair, don't brush or comb, use finger comb and less is best!

How to reduce Brittle hair

Brittle Hair Treatment

Olive oil is said to work wonders for dry hair. A regular hot oil treatment of olive oil will certainly help to clarify the scalp, keep it moisturized and also promote new hair growth.Another way to keep the hair moisturized is to add gelatin to the regular shampoo. Gelatin will help to make the hair stronger every time you shampoo your hair.Washing hair with apple cider vinegar once a week helps to get rid of the dead skin, promoting new hair growth. Apply apple cider vinegar once a week before shampooing.Brittle hair lacks moisture, so make use of natural substances which can retain the moisture, like avocado. Avocado contains the highest amount of oils compared to any other fruit. That is why it nourishes the hair by adding texture and moisture. Apply avocado to the hair, massaging into the scalp, 15 minutes before shampooing.

Vitamin A
This fat-soluble vitamin comes in the form of retinoids, found in animal sources, and carotenoids, found in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Mayo Clinic says that research suggests that vitamin A lowers mortality rate from measles, may prevent some forms of cancer and improves functioning of the immune system. Vitamin A is well known for promoting good vision. Vitamin A is involved in the growth and maintenance of your hair by regulating retinoic acid that is found in the hair follicle, according to Natural News. It is beneficial for hair growth and can be massaged into the scalp or taken internally. Vitamin A also helps with the production of sebum, which is the natural oils on the face and scalp.

B Vitamins

All B vitamins help the body to make energy by converting carbohydrates into fuel and are necessary for healthy hair, skin and eyes and to metabolize proteins, fats and amino acids. They also help the body cope with stress, which is a contributor to hair loss. Vitamin B12 helps in strengthening the hair and prevents hair loss due to the fact that it is a component of the hair itself. It also helps in creating DNA and ensuring that the nervous system is functioning properly. A lack of vitamin B12 or biotin can cause hair loss, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps to build capillaries in the body and also enhances blood circulation in the scalp, allowing hair to grow healthy and quickly. The additional nutrients in vitamin E can also help to treat dry and split hair. It also contains antioxidants and helps to fight off unstable substances called free radicals that can cause damage the to hair. Vitamin E has been proposed to treat and prevent numerous health conditions such as heart disease and cancer, as well.

Hair Treatment for Dry Hair
Dry, weak and brittle hair are prone to breaking and require a conditioner for breaking hair developed to repair protein structure and infuse moisture. Sun-damage, hair coloring, chemical treatments like straightening, relaxing and perms, and heat-damage from styling, deplete hair of moisture and break vital elastic protein cellular connectivity.Argan Oil is a naturally-derived oil from the Argan plant indigenous to Morocco. It has been "discovered" as one of the best hair treatments available for its natural ability to infuse moisture, is absorbed quickly and adds instant shine. Several brands - "Morrocan Oil", "Marrakesh Oil" - provide 100% pure Argan oil, but we have seen improved results (and customer feedback) with formulations that include Hemp Seed Extract and Dimethicone. Argan Oil provides nourishing benefits, reduces frizz, and helps protect from heat damage while styling.Use conditioning products before using heated styling tools. "A gel or mousse alone isn't enough to protect the hair," he says. "If you normally use a gel before blow-drying, apply a repair cream, heat-protecting cream or leave-in conditioner first." Use it sparingly, especially on the ends, but don't forget it. "You don't want to make your hair heavy or gunky," he says, "but more importantly, you don't want hot rollers applied directly to the ends of your unprotected hair."

Jojoba Oil is also naturally-derived, developed from a shrub indigenous to the western U.S. Jojoba Oil mimics sebum in its properties and is used to enrich hair products for increased cleansing and moisturizing strength. Though considered most useful as an added cleanser in tis pure form, it is also helpful for fighting dryness by increasing hydration.Emu Oil - Used for thousands of years by the Australians, Emu Oil is a deep penetrating, natural moisturizer. It is found commonly in the best shampoos and conditioners, but it can be used alone or with Vitamin E additives as a hair treatment. It is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and is often used to treat scalp psoriasis, eczema, irritation and inflammation.

Rice protein and corn protein are two of the most effective protein active ingredients because they target different objectives. Rice protein is capable of penetrating the shaft and supplements the bulb and root by strengthening and aiding to rebuild damaged hair. Corn protein focuses on protection and adds shine and smoothness to the follicle. Each have different molecular weights and different jobs.

Brittle hair can be improved by avoiding the use of shampoos that contain alkaline or alcohol. It is also best that you protect your tresses from excessive heat especially exposure under strong sunlight because this can dry your hair and make it even more brittle.Regular trimming is the best way to get rid of split ends. Aside from that, it is necessary to use a leave-in conditioner frequently and deep conditioner at least once a week to keep your hair healthy and moisturized. When swimming, protect your hair from chlorine from swimming pools by wearing a swimming cap. Do not forget to rinse before and after going into a pool to minimize absorption of chlorine in your hair.

Brittle hair prevention

Dry, brittle hair is vulnerable to increased damage and should be treated carefully. According to LongHair.org, excessive use of styling appliances, combs, brushes and chemical treatments should be avoided or stopped altogether. Proper combing techniques are important for dry, brittle hair so that unnecessary breakage and splits are prevented. Hair should be gently combed and detangled from tips to root. Harsh shampoos increase the likelihood of hair damage so consider using castile soap for hair and scalp cleansing.

Brittle hair faqs

What is good for thin n brittle hair to help it grow?
vitamin E pills help. you have to break or squeeze them onto your scalp.

How do you get rid of brittle frizzy hair with out using a palmade?
You can do a few things that will help.
1. Limit washing your hair to every other day. Washing hair too often strips the hair of its natural oils making it dry and brittle.
2. When you do wash your hair use a conditioner. Conditioner moisturizes the hair and leaves it soft and shiny
3. You can go to a salon and get a protein treatment that will make your hair stronger and more healthy
4. Limit use of hot tools like straighteners and blow dryers.

My hair is so brittle is breaks SO easy. IS there anything I can do to change it? Also my hair gets really ratted up really quickly - it will let it be for five minutes and it looks like I haven't brushed it in a week!!! Any suggestions on how to make my hair less brittle and smoother?
Go to Target or Walmart and get Sunsilk for dry, brittle hair. Should be in a pick tub. I use this, and it makes my hair softer, stronger and more managable. Also, I use Garnier Fructis Length and Strength conditioner and leave-in conditioner. Not only do all of these products smell great, but they do work!

How can I make my hair look straight and sleek if I have dry brittle hair?

Take echinacea every day until you begin to see the difference - then just take it three times a week.
Oils taken internally will help with everything from joints, skin, eyes and down to the hair on your body - so take an oil capsule every day.
Seaweed tablets are also a good source to make all things like nails, skin and hair much better.
Plenty of water all the time. This hydrates the body and if the body is hydrated then the hair will be hydrated.Dont overheat it.
Once a week apply coconut oil - comb through, wrap in a towel and leave for an hour. Wash and condition as normal.
Let your hair dry somewhat naturally before using the hairdryer - every little helps.
Have regular trims to keep the split ends at bay and to make it look more healthy.
Time and patience I'm afraid!!

What is the best shampoo and conditioner for brittle hair?
About a year ago i had really damaged hair, a lot of my hair fell out and it was really dry and brittle. after trying loads of different shampoo's and conditioners i now use head and shoulders (classic clean or hydrating) and sunsilk conditioner. I used the smooth & silky (purple bottle) conditioner, you might want to try one for curly hair.
This has been brilliant, my hair look healthy, my family and friends who saw my hair at its worst have really noticed the difference and commented on it. I wouldnt have believed it otherwise because im very skeptical about the promises made on the ads for hair products. It really does the job and not too expensive.

What is the best shampoo/treatment for dry/brittle hair?
Hey there, I would try The Shampoo and Conditioner called Biolage. I have found that it works great for dry hair, with normal oil, and has a really nice smell. It's a non chemical product also. You can buy this product from almost any beauty store. Be aware of imitating Shampoo and Conditioners of Biolage brand, found in grocery stores. These have usually been tampered with, or are out of date.I have been told by several cosmetologist that mixing several different kinds of conditioners together, and applying it to your hair will help with the dryness significantly, and this should be done a couple of times per month.
It's very important that you use a protector from the hairdryer, and etc, to prevent your hair from drying out after a conditioning treatment. I would suggest Biosilk. I have found that applying a small size amount to the ends of your hair , and then blow drying it, helps make your hair shinier, and more healthy looking over time.

What is the best heat protecting spray for brittle hair?
Buying a heat protecting spray right now wouldn't help very much. You need to first have a hair cut and get rid of all your spilt ends. My favourite shampoo and conditioner to use is pantine pro v. There are specialized ones that are for damage repair. There are also leave in conditioners that you put in when your hair is wet and it leaves your hair soft and silky. Also, make sure your curler/straightener is a good quality one that doesn't kill your hair. Before you use any ironing tools there are heat protecter sprays (I have a pantine one) that work very well.

What can I do for my colored DRY BRITTLE hair?
I have tried almost everything, because I used to dye my hair blond. The best things I found were Pantene for dry/damaged hair, biosilk conditioner, also the biosilk silkdrops will help the ends. That or Redken all soft conditioner- that one is amazing.

I have brittle hair, would it grow back thicker and better if shaved?
Shaving it might help; though i doubt it.
You have probably damaged the roots of your hair and should just hope that it mends on its own. You could try some hair strengthening shampoo or something that would probably help but i think shaving it is unlikely to help as the roots'll still be there... .
